Emergency preparedness is a central focus for the vast majority of amateur radio clubs in America. PCARC founder and president, Dawson Lightfoot, has made strides to lead by example by completing more than 12 hours of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training through the City of Dallas Office of Emergency Management. Namely he completed the Conditional CERT Basic Training Course. Due to the pandemic, the typical in-field final simulation exercise has been delayed but will be held as soon as conditions allow. Dawson has completed further training in the areas of CERT documentation procedures, field navigation, HAZMAT, and the tactical use of radios. The skills taught in these courses are crucial to personal and community safety in times of crisis. PCARC encourages everyone to seek similar basic safety training to the benefit of their families and our community.
