The Park Cities Amateur Radio Club is very happy to bestow the first ever Outstanding Service Award to WB4WXD, Jeff Montgomery. The award is not issued yearly, but rather, only in response to service to the club that is clearly foundational and well-beyond typical club participation. Although he would be slow to admit it, he has been instrumental in PCARC’s success from before the club even existed. Jeff graciously served as an Elmer to PCARC President, Dawson Lightfoot, in the 1990s and most recently assisted Dawson with kickstarting PCARC. PCARC has continued to leverage Jeff’s decades of club experience with the Palestine Anderson County Amateur Radio Club (pacarc.org) in every step taken from formation to present. Often through the club’s Discord presence, Jeff also continues to develop club members’ technical skills within the radio hobby – from the total noobs to highly experienced hams, Jeff always brings new insight, deeper understanding, or at least the right questions to ask!
As a first token of the club’s appreciation, Libby Lightfoot, club member and uncooked ham, created original artwork for Jeff that identifies the club, the award name, year awarded, and award recipient’s callsign, all in a modern pallet and format representative of a ham shack. A framed physical print of the art will be provided to Jeff.
As a second token and in keeping with PCARC’s STEAM education outreach focus (with the Arts being previously covered), the legal rights to the art and the graphics source file will be tokenized as a non-fungible token (NFT) and smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain where it will hopefully remain in the ether for a very long time.
