Hunga Tonga Shockwave Data Captured Locally by PCARC’s Weather Station

Posted on 2022-02-052022-02-08 by ki5kmq

Although the Hunga Tonga eruption originated over 6,000 miles away, the resultant atmospheric pressure waves were evident locally in the Park Cities. The PCARC weather station has continuously reported micro-local weather data to the Davis Weatherlink service for years. This information is stored and available for analysis as demonstrated by Davis when they informed users of the recorded evidence of the shockwave.

Looking back at PCARC’s data, a major pressure wave unlike any other in the years of data became evident and is visualized below. If you or your organization would like access to micro-local weather data for STEM/STEAM projects, please know PCARC has it and is willing to facilitate access!

Also, consider installing the Davis WeatherLink phone application for your own daily use.
